No bonfires please
There has been an increase in bonfires as people clear out their houses and gardens. Unfortunately, we are not able to ban all bonfires even temporarily, as having a bonfire is not against the law. Our key messages around this are:
- Be considerate of your neighbours and don’t light bonfires to dispose of waste.
- The coronavirus is known to cause serious respiratory problems, which could be made much worse if the sufferer is exposed to smoke from bonfires.
- Bonfires can also become out of control or cause accidents, creating extra pressure on the already busy emergency services.
- If you are affected regularly by smoke in your home and/or garden you can report this – more information.
